The Wait Continues For Blink 182’s Latest Album

After his Grammy Awards performance on Sunday, MTV News caught up with, Blink 182 drummer, Travis Barker and threw him through a gauntlet of questions mostly directed towards the bands much-anticipated upcoming album. The word on the street has been that the album was going to release in 2011, while others have heard that it will be coming out sooner. But according to Barker the band has to finish their own side-projects before they start working on the next Blink album.

“We’re about to start working on it. I’m gonna try to wrap up my album and, uh, Tom has his band, he’s wrapping up that album, and then we’ll start working on a Blink record.”

It has been nearly 7 years since the band’s last album was released in 2003, and it will be interesting to see what kind of sound they bring to the table nearly a decade later. Judging by Sunday’s performance with Lil’ Wayne, Eminem, and Drake, I think it’s safe to say that Barker still has the sound that can keep up with the music of today.

All in all, it seems as if we’ll have to play the waiting game until we find out.

Patrick Stump is Going Solo

Patrick Stump is Going Solo

Since the band’s hiatus announcement in November of 2009, the guys of Fall Out Boy have now moved on to other projects.  Andy Hurley (drummer) and Joe Trohman (guitarist), for example, have started a metal band called The Damned Things with members of Anthrax (Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano) and Everytime I Die (Keith Buckley), whereas Pete Wentz (bassist/emo’s pretty boy) has rendered out into the business world writing comic books, opening a night club, and much more.  No worries, Wentz still has a place in music, for he just collaborated with Mark Hoppus (Blink 182) in contributing a song to the Alice In Wonderland soundtrack.

But just last week, Fall Out Boy’s frontman Patrick Stump released a video on his newly revised website (www.patrickstump.com) that shows a little snippet of what’s to come from the Stump himself.  The video is a compilation of Stump playing different instruments, including keys, drums, and even a trumpet, that all layer into one song, ending with the caption ”I’m working on an album.  I’ll be writing, producing, performing everything myself.  Stay tuned.” The video can be seen by click here.

This is sure to be an exciting release, hopefully combining the catchy melodies we’ve heard and loved from Fall Out Boy with this seemingly new found progression in funk and maybe soulful concoction.  Or honestly this can just be a new side of Stump the world has never seen.  We’re sure to be surprised. Stay tuned.

(RIP Fall Out Boy)

A Movie About Blink182?!

blink

According to ads on Craigslist (which can be found here or here) and Exploretalent.com (click here), there is an open casting call for those to play Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker -better known as Blink 182 – in a movie based on the band’s beginning years. The ads also call upon actors/actresses to portray the people that were involved in Blink’s world, including their wives, manager, and even their OLD drummer Scott Raynor.

Taken from Craigslist-

The title of the film is “Blink” it will mostly be about the beginning years of Blink with some Blink-182 stuff thrown in there.

The first part of the film will be thru the eyes of Tom. and later be seen threw all three band members. [notice how they spelled "thru" and "threw" instead of "through."]

Main Characters:

Thomas Matthew Delonge (Tom): 15-17, Caucasian, Tom has a prankster personality with a “get-go” attitude and a bit of a sensitive/random side.

Mark Allan Hoppus (Mark): 17-20, Caucasian, Mark has a laid back personality with a “class-clown” attitude and random.

Scott William Raynor (Scott): 14-17, Caucasian, Scott has a loner personality with a “nice guy” attitude and pretty shy.

Travis Landon Barker (Travis): 19-23, Caucasian, Travis has a bit of a “shy guy” personality but he’s not afraid to try anything.

Be a part of “The Blinkumentary”

blink-182

As if getting to see Blink-182 in their highly discussed reunion tour wasn’t enough, now the fans can get a chance to be a part of Blink history in the new documentary project titled The Blinkumentary. It has been confirmed that a new production company, HND$M RND$M (Handsome Randsome), manned mostly by two ingenious men, Haven Lamoureux and Matt Edwards, are taking the reigns of the project.

So the word on the web is that Lamoureux and Edwards will be allowing the fans who have video footage of Blink-182 performing during their reunion tour to send their video’s to them. From the performance footage received, the two will decide which footage they will use in the documentary.

If you’re planning on attending one of the 52 dates of their North American tour, you might want to have a camera on hand…who knows, you might be a part of Blink’s final legacy.

The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show

As a tear falls from down my cheek I can’t help to think how happy I am that Blink 182 is back together, and not only are they back, but they’re back with authority. Blink 182, who had been broken up for 4 years before their current reunion, have been all over the headlines recently. With so much news circulating, here is a recap of what has happened in the last few weeks:

Blink 182 will be touring this summer with with the one and only Weezer and Fallout Boy

Edit: On various dates there will also be supports from Panic at the Disco, All-American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth and Chester French.

Tickets will be selling for $20-$60
