Just Add Water (Clay Marzo)

Just Add Water (Clay Marzo)

Clay Marzo isn’t your normal surfer.  At age 20 he already embodies the skills and natural talent to be the next great champion.  However, unlike a majority of surfers Marzo suffers from the condition of Aspergers Syndrome, a form of autism.  Regardless of the syndrome Marzo has taken the surfing world by storm.  Just Add Water takes a glimpse into Marzo’s life, made by Quiksilver it’s sure to be a film unlike any other surf films.

Nixon’s “The Player” Brightens Up

Nixon’s “The Player” Brightens Up

a139-hero-621

Where did the time go??

We’re certain that the crew at Nixon can tell you. This year the elite watch company has taken one of its greatest selling watches, and given it yet another make-over. This time in Silicone Rubber.  This style of watch, commonly known as “The Player”, was originally released in 2002, and mostly in Stainless Steel. But you can also find this watch in Gold, Ceramic, and now Silicone. Not only has the material changed, but this time around the Nixon family wanted to brighten things up as well. The use of florescent colors have given this time-piece more of a mesmeric look, and inspired a new name for the watch… “The Fluro Player“.

Interview with Cookie Tanney (Founder of Pretty Hurt)

Interview with Cookie Tanney (Founder of Pretty Hurt)

Hurt so Good

Designer crutches, glamorous slings and light up canes, who would have thought? Cookie Tanney, as a matter of fact. Founder and Creator of Pretty Hurt, Tanney has made a name for herself in the extreme sports scene and is making headway all across America.

Tanney, a Huntington Beach native, moved to Fresno a few years ago and dabbled in a little bit of this and a little bit of that. She eventually grew restless and began to pursue a different type of avenue all together, crutches.

The concept came when a close friend, Ernie, broke his leg. Being the fashion forward gal she is, Tanney used her fearless senses to create a custom pair of crutches for him.

To her surprise, the crutches were a smashing hit and pretty soon Pretty Hurt was born.

Marking her one year anniversary of Pretty Hurt, Tanney has succeeded in being a part of the surfing US Open, touring with the Action Sport tour and signing on a team of riders (Adam Denny, Jeff Bohuslavsky and Patrick Ivison) to sport the Pretty Hurt name.

Doing big things and keeping the creative vibes going is what Cookie is known for best. Her spirit and passion has allowed her to achieve greatness.

If she has done all this in one year, we here at Lean Green Machine can’t wait to see what happens next with Pretty Hurt; keeping it PRETTY and makin’ it HURT so good!!

Justin Timberlake Hit’s a Whole In One

Justin Timberlake Hit’s a Whole In One

Justin Timberlake’s love for golf is sort of brand new “I started playing golf about 5 or 6 years ago while I was on tour, [after playing in] indoor arenas,” he told PGATour.com in an interview. “I started getting cabin fever. My stage manager and my crew got me out on the golf course. [After] the first round, I was instantly hooked.”

Now the singer, songwriter, producer and actor is going green on the green by Justin with his new golf course in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. The course opens this weekend, and Timberlake flushed $16 million making it the “greenest” golfing destination in the US.

Renamed Mirimichi Golf Course, the course was originally called Woodstock Hills — and was the first place Timberlake learned to hit a golf ball. Timberlake’s newest venture is the first project in the US to receive the Audubon International’s Classic Sanctuary certification. “So we thought it was such a landmark for the community, we’d scoop it and save it. And we did.”

“After we had the golf course, we said why don’t we refurbish it and make it even nicer for the community. Then I asked questions about what we could possibly do, and we found out we could actually make it a ‘green course,’” Timberlake said.

The course will feature irrigation systems that will maximize the use of rainwater, native landscaping and electric golf carts powered by solar panels.

“So when it’s finished this summer it will be a Platinum LEED certified green course. The first in the United States of America, so that’s pretty exciting that you could take all that land and make it eco-friendly.”

Follow Cleveland as he returns to his hometown, marries his high school sweetheart, begins a new family, and befriends a bear. Yes, a bear.  If Family Guy can have a talking dog, American Dad have a talking fish, then Cleveland can have a talking bear, damnit.

Rise and Shine!!

Rise and Shine!!

alarmclock14

The days of waking up to a crowing rooster, a trumpet playing “Reveille” (that military wake up song), and smelling that “Folgers in your cup” have come to an end as designers, and the technology of our continuously changing society, have combined to take the simple concept of an alarm clock to level that is completely insane. Much like the “Lull Lamp” (see: LGM Archive: Trends) these unusual clocks are designed with the consumer’s wake up style in mind. Some of these alarms actually require physical movements to shut them off, thus waking you up in the process. So if you’re gonna get fired from your job because of tardiness, or tired of making your carpool late, then you should check out some of these alarm clocks….who knows, maybe one of these creations will be the reason for your newly developed punctual persona.

Layer Tennis for all you Graphic Geeks out there…

Layer Tennis for all you Graphic Geeks out there…

This is some pretty cool stuff from some awesome digital artists.  It’s hosted by the Coudal Partners, a design, advertising and interactive studio in Chicago, so I’ll let them explain what it’s all about;

We’re hosting a series of live design events called Layer Tennis. The season wouldn’t have happened without the support of Adobe® Creative Suite® 4, the weapon of choice for Layer Tennis players and creative professionals everywhere.

We’ll be playing matches using video, animation, sound, photos, type and lots more, but the basic idea is the same no matter what tools are in use. Two competitors will swap a file back and forth in real-time, adding to and embellishing the work. Each artist gets fifteen minutes to complete a “volley” and then we post it to the site live. A third participant, a writer, provides play-by-play commentary on the action, as it happens. A match lasts for ten volleys and when it’s complete, Season Ticket Holders tell us what they think and we’ll declare a winner.

So if you’ve got nothing worth doing on a Friday check it out, http://layertennis.com/index.php .
