Braata!

Braata!

Growing up on the lake I’ve always been a fan of “boat shoes”. Well the scientists at Nike 6.0 have taken the boat shoe to the next level.

May I introduce the Braata:

nike-6-braata1

Now this isn’t any shoe this is especially made for you avid WAKESKATERS or ANYONE THAT WANTS TO LOOK FLY ! “Built with Nike Free technology, the Braata’s uber-flex allows the foot to follow its natural movements and provides unprecedented board-feel that’s tempered with support in all the right places. The Braata’s cold-wrap construction process reduces environmental impact and also allows the insert of a cushioned midsole, differentiating it from traditional vulcanized shoes” (Nike 6.0).

The current colors for the Braata are green, blue, black, and white, but expect many, many more colors to follow.

Interview with Cookie Tanney (Founder of Pretty Hurt)

Interview with Cookie Tanney (Founder of Pretty Hurt)

Hurt so Good

Designer crutches, glamorous slings and light up canes, who would have thought? Cookie Tanney, as a matter of fact. Founder and Creator of Pretty Hurt, Tanney has made a name for herself in the extreme sports scene and is making headway all across America.

Tanney, a Huntington Beach native, moved to Fresno a few years ago and dabbled in a little bit of this and a little bit of that. She eventually grew restless and began to pursue a different type of avenue all together, crutches.

The concept came when a close friend, Ernie, broke his leg. Being the fashion forward gal she is, Tanney used her fearless senses to create a custom pair of crutches for him.

To her surprise, the crutches were a smashing hit and pretty soon Pretty Hurt was born.

Marking her one year anniversary of Pretty Hurt, Tanney has succeeded in being a part of the surfing US Open, touring with the Action Sport tour and signing on a team of riders (Adam Denny, Jeff Bohuslavsky and Patrick Ivison) to sport the Pretty Hurt name.

Doing big things and keeping the creative vibes going is what Cookie is known for best. Her spirit and passion has allowed her to achieve greatness.

If she has done all this in one year, we here at Lean Green Machine can’t wait to see what happens next with Pretty Hurt; keeping it PRETTY and makin’ it HURT so good!!

Rob Dobi

Rob Dobi

Rob Dobi’s resume would probably go as followed:

Went to school at the Rhode Island School of Design and got a BFA in fine art….

….My clients include Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, Atlantic Records, Island Def Jam Records, Angels and Airwaves, Sony Music and more….

I draw pictures, design shirts, and, for the hell of it, have a website that pokes fun at the modern music scene…

… so, hire me?

Hands down, Rob Dobi is quite the talented artist combining precision, creativity, entertainment and fun to his work.  Besides making shirts for countless bands,  his conceptual art based tees can be found in his brand Fullbred.

Along with his apparels, check out his website YourSceneSucks.com to find Rob Dobi breaking down the science and absurdity in today’s “scene” fashion, saying comments such as,”Referring to the kids with today’s music scene, my good friend Dave Mcwane once said, ‘it’s not a fucking fashion show’ (yourscenesucks.com).”  It’s a definite knee slapper.  Here’s some examples from the site:

What the Fringe?

What the Fringe?

Fringe is fun and flirty. Feeling the leather swoosh and sway with you makes any girl feel sexy. This stylish obsession has been seen with all kinds of fabrics and flavors.

The best of the fringe can be seen on handbags, shoes, cuffs, and earrings. Leather and feather are my fav but who knows you may be more of beading type of gal.

Sometimes clothing can have an added touch of pizzazz with fringe, but be careful you don’t want to look too overboard. Word to the wise: if you think it’s too much fringe, it probably is.

Don’t go on a fringe frenzy. Bring out the inner Pocahontas in you, but let’s keep it in moderation.

Free People Clothing Boutique

Free People Clothing Boutique

With summer comes much more time to play. Well, Free People Clothing Co. has a cool diamond in the rough website that allows you to tenderly waste a few hours, no really, it will take you a few hours to browse this enormous vault.

There is anything and everything you wish to explore when it comes to edgy, hip and chic art. Short podcast-like videos to captivate your attention, some cool quirky things only “modern” artists can think up.

With each feature, there is some brief info about the artist and where you may go to find more of their work. Don’t be afraid to steer off course, it’s pretty fun.

It will change your perspective, up the ante on your creativity, and allow you to log in some time to enhance your deliciously unique self. So check out the blog site and have fun.

This site takes art for arts sake to a whole new dimension. Who doesn’t like to see a whole floor cover in salt art or art made from toilet paper rolls?

WARNING: it is addictive so remember to soak up a few rays every now and then to keep you sane.

Bright is Bangin’

Bright is Bangin’

The pastels and neutrals are a thing of the past and bolds are flashier than ever. Whether you are just adding a hint of neon or walk down the street looking like a rainbow just puked on you, either way you rock it, the 80’s are back.

Think of yourself as fashion forward, and just think backwards: there are no limits this summer. Those hideous hues that some once swore off are bigger and better than ever.

The fashion fetish for summer is go big or go home. Just think of a light show at Coachella for inspiration.

But please keep in mind to pass on the 80’s hair style, this summer fashion may be wild but some things we should still leave in the past.

Fashion 360 at MTV Awards

Fashion 360 at MTV Awards

fashion360

At this year’s 2009 MTV Movie Awards, Nikon was the official camera sponsor to provide the red carpet with the Fashion 360.  Lisa Baxt, senior manager, Communications, Nikon Inc. says, “As the official camera sponsor for the MTV Movie Awards, Nikon and MTV combine the coolest in entertainment, fashion and digital imaging to bring viewers the most exciting moments on the red carpet…”

With 50 cameras surrounding celebrities at 360 degrees, celebrities have never looked so good with this innovating way to take photos.  Once each picture is synced together in sequence, the end result is this “matrix” effect that can certainly be described as BADASS.

To see pics from the celebrities from this year’s Fashion 360, head here. I highly recommend seeing this particular picture.

Air Kanye

Air Kanye

If releasing one signature shoe through Louis Vuitton wasn’t enough, Mr. West has teamed up with the people at Nike to release the Air Yeezy. And I gotta say not a bad looking shoe, nice job Kanye.

No word yet on the release date.
