Welcome to the “iFamily”

Welcome to the “iFamily”

The reign of Apple is still far from being over. With the newest release of the iPad to the clan of Apple products, who knows what’s next! This do-all tablet has a lot to live up to especially growing up under the shadow of the successful iPods, iPhones and Mac. At first glance, the handheld tablet looks like a giant iPhone, but the capabilities hidden inside this technology wonder, sets it apart from it’s elder siblings. Just imagine a touch screen Mac that you carry everywhere with you and you have the iPad. Appealing right? This beast is jam packed with Safari, Mail, Photos, Video, YouTube, iPod, iTunes, App Store, iBooks, Maps, Calendar, Contacts and Spotlight Search says Apple.com. All these functions are within a reasonable price well within reach, especially for college kids, ranging from $499 to $829. With this latest innovation from Apple, the end is nowhere in sight so hopefully you’re accustomed to seeing that half eaten apple by now!

Everyone Has Limits…

Everyone Has Limits…

Meet Feliz Baumgartner. This Austrian skydiver and BASE jumper has an impressive list of successful mind blowing jumps but has one jump that he has been training for for 3 years that will top them all. With nicknames such as “Fearless Felix” and “God of the Skies” one can only imagine what this extreme athlete has up his sleeve. Best known as the first person to skydive across the English Channel with a carbon wing in 2003 and also for the highest and lowest BASE jump world records, this attempt will stump even top thrill seekers.

Red Bull Stratos was finally revealed today and the details are simply astounding. Baumgartner plans on breaking Mach 1.0, more than  690 mph or also known as the speed of sound, with his body when he free falls in a “space suit” from 120,000 feet above the Earth. 120,000 feet or 23 miles, would shatter the previous world record of the longest 102,800 feet set in 1960 by United States Air Force Colonel (Ret.) Joseph Kittinger whos impressive jump opened the way to space exploration. This extraordinary feat Baumgartner plans to accomplish has been attempted by many individuals in the past 50 years and every venture has failed, some ending in death.

The target launch for this mission is set for 2010 and will be broadcasted on live televison and on a webcast.  The BBC will also produce a 90 minute documentary that will air in the US on the National Geographic channel and on BBC Worldwide. Once again, Red Bull is pushing the limits! Keep an eye out for commercials and interviews with Baumgartner as the launch date steadily approaches. (Red Bull)

There is No Plan B

There is No Plan B

“If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.” Well you can find these merciless renegades on the big screen beginning June 11, 2010 says FOX. Although many of us were yet to be born when the orginal A-Team made it’s debut, we know alot about the mercenaries and their cartoon like over-the-top use of violence. The original cast will not be reappearing in this recreation but the lead roles have been handed off to some surprising characters. Col. John “Hannibal” Smith will be played by Liam Neeson (A** kicking dad from Taken), Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck is played by Hangover’s Bradley Cooper, Sgt. Bosco “B.A.” Baracus, Mr. T’s famous role, will be played by known other than ultimate cage fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, and Cpt. “Howling Mad” Murdock finds Sharlto Copley of District 9 in this role. Gorgeous Jessica Biel, can also be found making a appearance in this epic summer blockbuster. The iconic black and red van that even made an appearance in an episode of Family Guy will finally be reclaimed by the ex-special forces team in one of the many must see movies of summer 2010. I pity the fool who doesn’t check out this flick!

The New “Garden State”

The New “Garden State”

new-moon-soundtrack-cover

Believe me when I say this, posting something about Twilight is the last thing I wanted to do but when I was enlightened on this soundtrack it blew my pants straight off. Honestly, this soundtrack is stunning. I’ve been waiting for many moons (pun-intended) for a compilation to de-thrown the almighty Garden State soundtrack and that day has finally come. This album boasts huge bands ranging mostly in the alternative indie genre but still packs an insane punch. Heading the cavalery is the Death Cab for Cutie song (Meet Me On The Equinox) which is everything it was built up to be and is coupled by some other monumentally epic songs from Thom Yorke, The Killers, Muse, and the list only gets better. CHECK IT!

Something Corporate’s Upcoming Performance at Bamboozle Left ‘10

Something Corporate’s Upcoming Performance at Bamboozle Left ‘10

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

It was nearly 3 ago when Something Corporate, a piano-based pop/rock band from Orange County, CA, did a surprise reunion show at 2006’s Bamboozle Left after had announcing their hiatus the previous year.  This phenomenal performance (I know, cause I was there) was sure to be their last, or at least their last performance in a long while….

Well now the wait is over.  On March 28th in Anaheim, CA, Something Corporate will return once again to the stage at Bamboozle Left for ANOTHER reunion show.  According to SomethingCorporate.com:  “It’s been ten years since Something Corporate put out its first demos, and for the first time since 2005, you can see the band perform live!”

Holy S%&t you gotta see this flick!

Holy S%&t you gotta see this flick!

Welcome to the first installment of  “Holy s%&t you gotta see this flick”.  This is when I get to tell you (the reader/watcher) the movie that I think you have never seen and must see before the crypt comes for ya!

For our first time I’ll be gentle.  Over the years i have watched millions of movies (and no that doesn’t include the ones i hide under the special file name “homework”) and one of the best is Grandma’s Boy.

This movie combines video games, herbal remedies, the most awkward foursome in history, and jokes about The Matrix.  Alex Covert plays the protagonist and essentially is the only 35 year old nerd doing what he loves for a living, playing video games.

Alex plays surprisingly enough, a guy named Alex.  He initially lives with one of his friends but once the rent gets passed 6-months over due, the land lord (Rob Schneider) makes a house call.  After finding out that his roommate had been spending their rent on Filipino hookers, Alex tries to find shelter elsewhere.  A short stay with colleague Jeff (Nick Swardson) came to a conclusion (literally!) abruptly and  Alex ventures to live with lovable Grandma (Doris Roberts).

The cast includes Adam Sandler’s regulars (Covert, Peter Dante, Schneider, and Jonathan Loughran), classics (Shirley Jones, Shirley Knight, Doris Roberts, Kevin Nealon), and many up-and-coming cinematic smart-asses (Jonah Hill, Nick Swardson, and Joel Moore).

Now in summary, for those of you in the dark the last few years, Grandma’s Boy combines a trio of great things (illegal substances, video games, and 70+ year old women getting lit!) and is a comical must see.  Until next time, enjoy the cinema!
