Backflip on Wheelchair

Born in Las Vegas, NV, 17-year old Aaron Fotheringham grew up with a birth defect called Spina Bifida, leaving him with both legs completely useless.  For Aaron, though, he took the saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade” literally.  At the age of 8,  Aaron makes the decision to try and drop into a quarter pipe in his wheelchair after his older brother told him to.  A couple of failed attempts later, Aaron finally nails it and admits that he’s hooked.

Aaron goes on in progressing in “hardcore sitting” by learning how to carve, grind, power-slide, hand-plant, and in 2005, execute a mid air 180-degree turn.  On July 13th, 2006, Aaron lands what only an extreme sport athlete could ever think/attempt to do: a backflip.

Today, Aaron sometimes coaches and mentors at disability camps while also competing at BMX competitions.  He is certainly an inspiration and a walking (or shall I say rolling) example that anything is possible.

Ok, that last part may be fucked up.  It’s harmless, I’m sorry.
