Not only has Rob Dyrdek made his own fantasies come true, but now he is sinking his hands into the film business and bringing to the life the fantasies of millions of young skateboarders everywhere. The film is supposed to showcase a street skateboarder’s constant battles through Derrick Cabrera’s (Paul Rodriguez Jr.) character. Along with the acting skills of Dyrdek and Rodriguez, some other notable pro skaters such as: Ryan Sheckler, Ryan Dunn,  and Terry Kennedy, have thrown themselves in the mix and decided to test their skills on the silver screen as well. The movie does have some lighthearted chuckles, but does not stray too far from its overall serious depiction of a skater and his dreams…KEEP ON YOUR HUSTLE

The film is set to release on June 12th, 2009 in select theaters

Pharrell Williams chats about his soundtrack involvement, more specifically the title track “Hoppin Over Fences”, in the upcoming skate film project by Nino Scalia and Rob Dyrdek entitled Street Dreams.

With the United States in a recession and thousands of people struggling to make ends meet, it seemed like a perfect time for director Tim Burton and the writers at Focus Features (see: Brokeback Mountain, Pride and Prejudice) to put out an animated post-apaclyptic film where the entire human race has been diminished. The desolate world where the film takes place is not something that is surprising once we realize that Burton is directing the film. After all, he is associated with the gloomy settings in the films, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Sweeney Todd. This story however, leaves the fate of the world in the hands of sapient rag dolls who have been given life by a science genius. The voice casting for these dolls has quite the track record ranging from experience (Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau), to beauty (Jennifer Connelly), and to youth (Elijah Wood). Much like his most recent role as Frodo Baggins, Wood finds himself again playing the protagonist who must keep humanity afloat. Also playing important roles are the often clueless John C. Reilly and Crispin Glover (see: George McFly/Back to the Future).

The film is scheduled to hit the big screen on September 9th of 2009…09/09/09

No word yet on the release date.
